Regenerative Injection Therapy

for Injured Ligaments

Many people suffer from injured ligaments with little success in repairing the body. We offer Regenerative Injection Therapy as part of a holistic approach to restoring your functional abilities.

Treating Injured Ligaments Without Surgery

When a ligament is injured, an inflammatory response happens in the body that promotes new tissue growth to restore the damaged tissue. However, ligament injuries do not often heal easily due to poor blood supply. Regenerative injection therapy (RIT) triggers the body’s natural healing mechanisms, successfully reducing pain and restoring function without surgery.

Naturopathic Clinic in Calgary

At Dr. Schlee’s Naturopathic Clinic, our team is certified and well-trained to administer regenerative injection therapy to treat ligament injuries.

What is Regenerative Injection Therapy?

RIT is a nonsurgical procedure that involves injecting natural substances such as dextrose, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), ozone, or other compounds into injured areas. The process stimulates a reparative response in the body – starting with a modulated inflammatory response. While inflammation may sound counterintuitive, it is a natural part of the healing process, and is necessary to prompt the development of new, stronger and healthier tissues. When used correctly, RIT can gradually promote healthy tissue, relief pain and help to restore your body’s original function in these areas.

Patients encounter fewer complications with ozone IV therapy relative to other more invasive treatments. Researchers are performing more in-depth studies regarding the healing potential of ozone IV therapy.

Dr. Schlee offers various Naturopathic remedies, including regenerative injection therapy for ligament injuries.

About Dr. Schlee

Injured Ligaments Commonly Treated With RIT

Ligaments are the elastic connective tissues that connect two or more bones at a joint, providing stability in these areas while limiting movement that would otherwise result in injury. Damage to a ligament can occur when it becomes overstretched or twisted, often from a repetitive strain or traumatic impact. Ligament injuries can range from a mild strain to an extremely painful tear. Common injuries we treat with RIT include ACL, MCL, or LCL sprains, ankle sprains, shoulder ligament injuries, wrist and hand injuries, neck sprains, and more.

The Benefits of RIT for Injured Ligaments

Treatment with anti-inflammatories or steroids, while providing immediate pain relief, can unfortunately suppress the natural healing process. Invasive surgery often comes with a long road to recovery, and regaining full function is not guaranteed. In contrast, while the benefits of RIT vary between each patient and their type of injury, this type of therapy may eliminate the need for conventional medication or surgery. RIT for ligament injuries can:

  • Restore movement and functional ability
  • Reduce or eliminate pain
  • Improve range of motion and stability
  • Improve muscle strength

Is RIT Right For Me?

While RIT can help heal many types of ligament injuries, not everyone may benefit from such therapies. Whether these treatments are the best option for you will depend on the complexity of your injury, current health, lifestyle, medical history, and overall health and wellness goals. At Dr. Schlee’s clinic in Calgary, we complete a thorough assessment and guide you through the RIT process. We help you make an informed decision about whether this form of treatment is the right choice for you.
