What Prolozone Therapy Can Do

Provides Non-Surgical Repair

Prozolone involves the use of regenerative injections to stimulate the body’s natural ability to repair, restore and strengthen soft tissues. When combined with ozone gas, these innate mechanisms have been found to be even more effective.

Relieves Pain

When successful, Prolozone may help to restore and repair the underlying cause for pain, thus providing long-term relief from this pain.

Addresses The Condition

Traditional medicine may recommend steroids or anti-inflammatory, surgery, and physical rehabilitation. Prolozone may help remediate without the need for surgery or medications, with adjunctive physical rehabilitation becoming more effective.

Therapy and Treatments

“Prolozone” is a common phrase for a combination regenerative injection treatment using both prolotherapy solutions and ozone gas. These treatments involve injection of these substances into degenerative or injured areas, with the aim of stimulating natural healing mechanisms within those tissues. While there are a wide variety of possible applications, the most prominent conditions that this therapy may be appropriate for are:

Prolozone Therapy and Treatments

Bulging, herniated or degenerative discs

When people experience disc-related health issues, their symptoms are often of pain or discomfort in a local area – such as within their neck or back – with or without an accompanying radiating pain. For example, in the lower back, someone with disc pain may often feel local aching back pain with an accompanying ‘nerve pain’ radiating down into their hips or legs. In such cases, a combination of prolotherapy and ozone may be of significant help.

When ozone is injected adjacent to a bulging or herniated disc, the result is a reduction in the extruded volume, thus minimizing injury and swelling. Ozone injection for sciatica and disc treatment have been shown to have a high rate of success, quicker recovery times with a lower risk of complications.

The utility in prolotherapy comes in the form of regenerating and stabilizing the tissues surrounding the discs. Often there can be laxity in the adjacent ligaments, thus prolotherapy serves to stimulate immunological repair in those areas, thus providing additional symptomatic relief while increasing the long-term effectiveness of the therapy.

Prolozone Therapy for Knee

Degenerative joints

In the context of joint treatment, there are numerous pro-regenerative actions stimulated through both prolotherapy and ozone. When introduced into a joint space, prolotherapy can stimulate the immune system in similar fashion to injections within tendons or ligaments, thereby encouraging repair of damaged or degenerative structures.

If effective, the exceptionally safe therapy may result in a reduction in pain or discomfort, as well as increased stability and range of motion of the treated joints.

Prolozone Therapy for Arthritis

Arthritis

A very common affliction, with numerous describable categories, arthritis is a condition characterized by pain, inflammation, swelling and limited mobility within affected joints. While these symptoms are common amongst different types of arthritis – dysfunctional immune activity being a hallmark of each – the underlying causes can vary markedly.

Prolotherapy, through the mechanisms previously described, can serve to slow or potentially reverse tissue injury caused by the progression of arthritis. With ozone therapy, through its mechanism of oxygenation and immune modulation, improvement in symptoms can make for an effective treatment for the diverse types of arthritis.

Used singularity or in combination, these therapies may be viable for the treatment and management of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and many more.

At our clinic, we will assess your medical history, lifestyle, work, and other pertinent health considerations to help determine if prolotherapy and ozone would be an effective option for you.
