What is PRP Therapy?
The majority of blood is made of a liquid called plasma, but it is also made up of smaller components called red cells, white cells, and platelets.
Recent research has repeatedly demonstrated that platelets contain specialized proteins called growth factors which play a powerful role in naturally stimulating the healing of damaged tissues.
By harvesting the body’s own blood plasma, our technicians use techniques to separate, concentrate, and active the platelets. This produces a natural, highly concentrated and active solution called Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) . This PRP contains greater than five times the concentration of platelets as whole blood, and as many as 300 times the concentration of growth factors.
The Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is injected into the site of injury, which has been shown to speed up the healing process for many types of injuries or degenerative conditions involving joints, tendons, ligaments and other tissues.
